From her second floor apartment, nineteen year old Keela Hylls stared out her living room window. It was a warm, sunny day. She turned her head to look at Julia, her one year old daughter. Julia was on the floor playing with a few toys. She was behaving like a little angel. Keela turned back to look out the window again. She was bored. She didn't work today, which was fine with Keela, since she had work almost everyday last week. But now, instead of being tired, like she was last week, she was wide awake. To top it off, there was nothing on T.V and she didn't feel like reading right now.
She walked over to the couch and sat down, looking at the blank T.V. Resting her elbows on her legs, Keela cupped her face with her head, thinking. She hadn't been planning to go out today, but Keela figured a trip to the beach were do both her and Julia some good. It was the afternoon, and both Keela and Julia were still in their P.Js. Well, there was nothing else to do, so Keela got up from the couch and walked into her small bedroom. She went to her dresser and pulled out black pants, and a white and blue striped, short sleeve shirt. She took out her black, one piece swimsuit and put it on, then put her clothes on. Then she walked out of her room and went into Julia's. She pulled out a short sleeve, white shirt with red writing that said, "Little angel." She also got pink pants, then got Julia's light pink, one piece swimsuit. She left Julia's room and picked up her one year old daughter. "Let's go to the beach," Keela said, getting Julia dressed.
A few minutes later, once both Keela and Julia were dressed and clean, Keela was pulling out the stroll and baby bag from the closet. Through she always made sure the bag always had everything she were need when she left the house, Keela checked to make sure everything was in the bag. Diapers, money, towels were all in the bag. Keela smiled as she put the bag on the stroller, then picked up Julia and put her in the stroller, belting Julia in.
A little while later, they were at the beach. Once there, Keela took off her pants and shirt and stuffed them into the bag, then did the same for Julia. Then moving towards the water, Keela put the bag as close to the water as she dared, then walked into the water. The water was cool, and Keela loved it. Once the water was up to Julia's knees, Keela sat down, and holding on to her daughter, watched as Julia played in the water.

-------------------------------------Pax watched water move back and forth, the edge of it nipping at his toes. He was deep in thought, about nothing in particular. His mind was jumping from thought to thought without much connection between them. He thought about everything, from school, to what he had for lunch, to those flock of birds that were hanging out at the far end of the beach over there. He focused his attention on the birds. He had never been a big fan of birds, but he did somewhat envy them. For the freedom that God bestowed upon them. Man how he envied them, he wished that he could just fly away, on a whim, but alas he could never, he had too many things holding him here.
He shook his head, not wanting to think of the things that were holding him there. He did a quick scan of the beach before deciding that it was probably time to head out. He had been there for a few hours. He had decided that he need to take a mental health day. School was getting to him even though the semester had just started. He decided to come to the beach, clear his head and to get out there for a bit of surfing before the crowd got there. Picking up his board he grabbed his hoodie and began to head up the beach. He was about halfway down the beach when he realized that there was only one person was on the beach, a girl and a baby. This was odd, it was midday. "Where is everyone?he asked no one in particular.
Shrugging off the oddity of the whole situation he moved further up the beach. It was then that he noticed that the girl and baby were his next door neighbor, Keela and her daughter. A smile came to his lips at the sight of her. Heading down there he plopped down beside her. “Hey Keela” he said with a smile. Pax waved at the baby, “Hey Julia.”

Watching her mom, Julia copied what Keela did, and sat down in the water. Keela smiled and slashed a bit of water on Julia. Julia seemed surprised for a moment, then clapped her hands together as she giggled. Keela giggled right back. No matter how she was feeling at the moment, her daughter always made her laugh. Keela was so busy watching Julia she didn't noticed someone walking towards them until she heard a voice.
Keela jumped at the voice and whipped her head towards the sound. She sighed in relief. It was her next door neighbor, Paxton. "Hey, Pax," Keela said with a small smile on her face. "I didn't hear you coming." Keela kept the smile on her face, but inside her heart was still thumping hard. She hated when she got so distracted she wasn't in tune with her surroundings. What if it hadn't been Paxton and something else; something that could have hurt her and Julia. Keela shook the thought away. She couldn't been thinking of the what ifs, there where to many in her life. Instead, she had to think of the day, the hour, the minute she was in.
Julia on the other hand, didn't seem scared in the less. Instead, she looked at Paxton for a second or two, then walked over to him, waved her chubby baby hand at him, then giggled again.

-------------------------------------Paxton chuckled seeing her jump a little at the sound of his voice. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said with a smile. He kicked off his flip flops and dug his feet in the sand, and stared out at the ocean in front of him. He let his mind wander off and thought of nothing in particular as he stared out in to the open abyss before him. His thought eventually came to the girl occupying the seat beside him, Keela, he thought to himself, and turned his attention to her once more. He hadn’t know her very long just over a few months. She was a bit older than him, not by much, just over a year or so, but she was miles ahead of him in the maturity department. He guessed that she had Julia to thank for that. He chuckled as Julia waved and giggled at him. He turned towards Keela once more and opened his mouth to speak, “Soooooo…Wha-“ I think I'm cute, I know I’m sexy, I got the looks, That drives the girls wild He blushed slightly at the sound of his ringtone. “Hold that thought .” Digging into his pocket, he pulled out his phone; he looked at the caller I.D. and sighed. It was his sister… his youngest one Willow to be exact. “Hey Will… Would I be talking to you if I was still sleeping… No I haven’t called Nana yet…. well, maybe because I don’t particularly wanna talk to her. Well if you want me to, so bad, why don’t you call her? Yea, I’ll call you later… uh huh… love you too sis, yea yea…bye.” He hung up the phone to not waiting to hear what else his sister would say and sighed again. He knew his sister would be pissed, but he was okay with that. He really did hate talking to his sister on the phone. Actually, he hated talking to anyone on the phone but that was beside the point. “Now… what are you guys doing out here by your lonesome?”

Keela shrugged. "It's O.K," she said, her heart finally slowing to a normal rate. She turned her head to see what Julia was doing. She was sitting in the water, picking up sand and watching it fall out of her hand back into the water. Keela wished she had brought some toy for Julia to play with, and made a mental note to bring some next time. When she heard Pax speaking again, she turned her head to face him, but he didn't finish saying whatever he was going to say, because there was a ringing coming from his pocket. Keela giggled quietly into her hand when she heard his ring tone.
Keela listened to his end of the conversion, wondering what the other person was saying. When Pax finish with the call, he finally finish his thought. Keela shrugged again. She didn't really mind being on her own, well on her own with Julia that is. "I don't know," she started saying slowly, not really sure how to answer the question. "I was bored at home, and decided going to the beach for a while would be funnier then sitting at home bored." She looked over at Julia to make sure she was still O.K, then turned back to Pax. "And what about you? Are you here by yourself?" she asked.

-------------------------------------Pax nodded at her reasoning, and chuckled, “Everything is funner than sitting at home bored,” he said, “but yeah the beach was a good choice. Julia seems to be having a time.” Pax had never spent much time around babies before Julia. It wasn’t that he didn’t like babies; it was just there wasn’t much exposure in his social class. As the old saying goes Children should be seen and not heard. Or as the case had been more often than not, neither seen nor heard, and Morgan and Willow were a two years younger than him, so yeah… not much time with babies before Julia. So far he was digging babies. He could see himself with a couple of his own when he got his life together.
“Decided to take a bit of a mental health day, I needed some time off from school”. He had a habit of skipping class at least twice a week. It wasn’t that big a secret that big a secret that Pax hated school. Okay maybe hate was a little strong, but strongly dislike definitely hit it spot on. He wasn’t a bad student, actually quite the opposite, he made pretty decent grades, he just felt like there were other things he could spend his time doing, other than school. What those things were, it didn’t matter. He just felt like anything was better than sitting in a classroom for seven hours. Thank God he was in his last year.
Pax stood up and dusted himself off a bit, “How about we go a bit further in the water?” he said offering her his hand, “I promise to hold extra tight to Julia, nothing will happen to her, to either of you, I swear.” For extra emphasis he crossed his heart. “Please…”

Keela nodded slowly. "Yeah. True." Through she did like staying at home, it was nice to get out once in a while and do something different. Keela looked at Julia, who was laying on her back, patting the water. Keela smiled at her daughter, then looked back at Pax. "She is," she agreed. Since Keela was very much a homebody, Julia, sadly, didn't get out much. Keela could count on one hand how many times Julia had been to the beach. It was something Keela needed to work on. Keela shook her head. "So you skipped school?" she asked, through as the words came out of her mouth, she realized what a silly question that was. It was the afternoon, with at least an hour left off school.
Keela watched as Pax stood up and wondered for a second if he was gong to leave. Part of her didn't want him to, it was kinda nice to have someone to talk to, well someone that could aswer back that is. But her worries were put to rest when he asked if she wanted to go out a bit further. Keela turned her head to look out at the water for a second, then turned back to Pax. "How far out were you thinking?" she asked.

-------------------------------------Pax chuckled again, “Yeah, they say there’s not better medicine, well… except for laughter,” he teased. Although he said it in a joking manner, he very much believed his words. Being confined inside for 7 hours a day was not good for anybody. “It doesn’t help that the school pretty small, and it doesn’t help that we’re here all the freaking time, no reprise. We might as well be locked in prison.” He knew he was being a tad bit over dramatic, but he was sick of school and ready to get out, thank God he only had one more year. ”Not to mention gossip here travels faster than wild fire. Probably because most of the girls here have nothing better to do, and think they own everything.” He couldn’t wait to get out; he was tired of being trapped in the school day in and day out. He had never been one to handle imprisonment well. Whenever he was grounded, or in detention, he always tried to find a way out of it¸ and sometimes he was successful and sometimes he wasn’t.
He let his eyes rove up the length of Keela’s body. He had never noticed before, but she was definitely not ugly. Okay… maybe he had noticed, but well he never let himself really noticed. He couldn’t lie he had a bit of a crush on her. Nothing serious, but he was definitely finding himself attached to the little family that was Keela and Julia. But he was fairly sure nothing would ever come from it, she was mature, knew who she was and had her life together, while he was still figuring all that out.
Standing up, Pax dusted himself off, stepping back a bit. He watched her contemplate the idea, hoping she would go along with it. “Not that far out, just up to my waist maybe,” He said bending over and picking up Julia. He gently grabbed Julia’s hand, “I want to go go deeper in the water mommy with Uncle Pax” he said imitating Julia’s voice. “See, she wants to do it.”

Since Keela hadn't been to school for a few years, she couldn't remember very well what high school was like, but she was sure that school didn't feel like a prison to her. Maybe because when she was at school, she could forget about her home life, or lack of. She shrugged, not sure what to say to the whole school like a prison thing. However she did agree with the gossip thing. "Yeah." Keela not only not gossip, but she hated it too. "Gossip isn't good for anyone."
When Pax picked up Julia, Keela tensed a little bit. It wasn't because she didn't trust Pax, he was one of the few people she trusted, it was more an unconscious thing. She was so used to tensing when someone was near Julia that it was a pretty hard habit to break. Keela nodded, then stood up. She rasied her eyebrows when Pax imitated Julia's voice. She crossed her arms, and smiled. "Okay," she said. "Let's go a bit deeper."
She wonder for half a second if she sure take Julia from Pax, but Julia seemed happy and relax, so Keela let the thought go. She took a couple of steps deeper into the water, then turned around. She looked at the shore to make sure her bag was still there, and seeing it was, she turned her attention back to Pax and Julia.

-------------------------------------Pax looked around to see if anyone else had arrived onto the beach. They hadn’t, they were still the sole people on the beach. His eyes caught a glimpse of the city skyline in the distance. He had lived here his entire life, as has generations upon generations of Abercrombies, and God help him he loved this little town. Her voice shook him out of his reverie, and he focused his attention back on Keela. “Yeah… all it does is create useless drama, and it sucks.”
He watched her contemplate the idea, hoping she would go along with it. He hoped she would, this would definitely be an interesting event if she agreed. He resisted the urge to jump up and down as she agreed, “Sweet!” he said his smile growing wider. He stepped into the water, sucking in a sharp breath at the coldness of it. He knew when he asked her that the water was probably going to really cold, as he was just in there about 20 minutes ago, and it was the start of autumn and everyone knew he hated the cold. But he was bored, and he wanted to get to know Keela a bit better, decided why not now, when else was he going to have a plausible excuse to learn more about her.
He held Julia tighter; making sure was okay as he stepped further into the water. “It’s okay Jules, Uncle Pax got you,” he cooed softly to her. Turning his attention towards Keela he offered her his hand, “Come on love, don’t be afraid,” he said beckoning her to come further out with him.

Keela nodded in agreement about gossip creating useless drama. "It does. And it can sometimes ruin peoples life." Keela had never been in that kind of situation, thank God, but she had heard stories. She had to wonder why people would gossip about others. Once in a while the gossip was true and could help someone, but most of the time, it was just hurtful. Keela noticed Pax sucking in a sharp breath, and smiled. "Cold?" she asked with a small giggle. Keela didn't mind the cold. Not that she loved it, she just could handle the cold.
When Pax offered Keela his hand, she stared at it for a couple of seconds, wondering what to do. She also wasn't sure what Pax meant by "don't be afraid." Don't be afraid to go deeper in the water or don't be afraid to take his hand. One was easy, the other kinda frightened her. The only physical human contact she had had in almost a year was with Julia. She took a deep, quick breathe and decided to go for it. So, slowy, she reached out her hand and lightly touched Pax's.

-------------------------------------As she placed her hand in his, he pulled her closer, when she was a touchable distance away, placing a hand on her waist he pulled her a little closer to him, wrapping it around her holding her there. Had they been focusing on the fact that they were naked, the moment would’ve been a little awkward, but thank god they weren’t. He turned to look at Julia, making sure she was alright , before focusing his attention back on Keela. The crash of the waves against them pushed him closer to her, and instinctively he held her and Julia tighter, not wanting anything to happen to the two of them.
Pax was having the biggest internal struggle of his life, should he kiss her or not. Words could not express how much he wanted to kiss her at that moment, yet… he didn’t want to scare her off. His eyes drifted down her body, enjoying the way she looked arms, the way she felt in his arms. Just as his eyes were making their way back up her body, he was beseeched with an image of her sitting in his room, on his bed with nothing but that smirk on her face, “I’m going to kiss you now, okay,” and before she could stop him he captured her lips in his.

A small gasp escape from Keela when Pax pulled her closer. She hadn't expected that. She shifted her weight from one leg to the other. She was getting a little nervous, but at the same time she didn't want to move away. It definitely felt a bit weird being so close to Pax. She looked over at Julia for a second, the baby was playing with her fingers. She felt a waved against her legs, then felt Pax tighten his grasp. She looked over at Pax, searching his face for any idea of what his was thinking.
Keela watched his eyes look down, and she felt herself blush. She looked out over the water for a couple of second before looking back at Pax. She blinked when he said he was going to kiss her. She opened her month to speak, but before she could he was kissing her. Keela eyes widen in surprise. A flash back to when she was living with her last foster parents came back to her. She thought of Julia's father, and what he had done to her. She pulled away slightly.
Keela didn't want to hurt Pax, but at the same time, she needed a mintue to think about what was happening. She closed her eyes, not sure what to feel or think what the moment. OOC: Yeah.

-------------------------------------Pax knew he had messed up the moment his lips touched hers. He hadn’t meant to do it, and didn’t blame her for pushing him away. Yet… he couldn’t seem to bring himself to regret his actions. He couldn’t even bring himself to call it a mistake. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, So so so sorry,” he said moving away from her, “I don’t know what I was thinking.” He forced himself to look her in the eye, only to look back down at the water. He was legitimately the biggest idiot in the world now. No question about it. Still… he still couldn’t bring himself to feel apologetic for the kiss. Something was seriously wrong with him. He was sure of it.
He tried to distract himself by focusing all his attention on the baby in his arms. Julia seemed to be enjoying herself, but he could never be sure. He couldn’t believe he had lost control like that. It had never happened to him before and he still didn’t know what happened. Pax let his eyes look over in her direction. “If only I knew what she was thinking…” he muttered to himself quietly, he would know what to do… what to say… where they stood. That was what bothered him the most, the fact that everything had changed between them.
He enjoyed being in her company, enjoyed hanging out with her and her daughter, and now he had gone an fucked that up… at least he thought he had. He was pretty sure he had. That thought rocked him slightly, what was he going to do now? In that short amount of time he had known her, kissed her, and scared her away. Well… he hoped he hadn’t done the last one, he prayed he hadn’t done that. “So…” He said, not being able to stand the silence any longer, “I… I… I…” he didn’t know what to say, and quickly closed his mouth

Keela opened her eyes, watching Pax move back a bit. She opened her month to answer back, but couldn't find her voice. She wanted to explain why she had pulled away, but didn't know where to start or what to say. She shook her head, trying to think of what to say and to get images of Julia's father out of her head. She looked at Pax, wanting to tell him why she had pulled away, to tell him that she was just scared, worried, but her voice still didn't come. She bit her lip, her eyes moving to check on Julia. The one year old seemed to be having fun playing with her fingers, not a care in the world. Keela wished she could be that care free.
Keela eyes looked back at Pax when he started talking. She opened her month again to speak, and this time she manged a little bit of sound. "Uh...." She felt like she needed to explain to Pax about everything, how Julia was created, why she had moved to Beechshire, why he was one of the few people she trusted...or had trusted? She wasn't really sure at the moment. She looked down at her hands, taking a deep breathe. After a few seconds, she looked back up at Pax. "It...it's not your fault," she said, finally finding her voice. "I mean..." She had finally found her voice, but she still didn't know what to say.
"It's not really your fault," she started again. "I...I just had back flashes back to....something bad that happened to me." She took another deep breathe, wondering if Pax would ask any questions. While she wanted to explain her past to Pax, she also wanted to keep some of it a secret.
