It was one of those really nice summer days that were warm but not unbearably hot. It was around 5:30 in the evening and it was starting to slowly cool off.
There was still quite a few people on the beach, a few in the water, but many of them lounging on towels and beach blankets. Lily was just arriving after having to work from seven that morning until 3 in the afternoon. She hated working but needed the money now that she wasn't living with her parents anymore, and she never let it ruin her day. She had finished her errands and then decided she would head to the beach, even if she was by herself.
She had friends, of course, but they all seemed to be busy this evening. There were many people in Beechshire that she recognized from when she went to public school here, but had lost touch with many after becoming homeschooled. There was also many people she didn't know.
After parking, she made her way across the parking lot and towards the beach. She had worn her bathing suit although she wasn't sure if she would actually go in the water. Over that, she had on a pair of white shorts and a light blue tanktop, and cheap rubber flip flops on her feet.
When she reached the beach she didn't get very far onto it. In fact, after stepping onto the sand she stopped and sat on the stone wall that lined most of the beach, with her legs over the side and facing the ocean. It was relaxing, and it felt nice to just sit and be able to relax. She looked out at the water, zoning out. tagged: Tristan word count: 287 notes: none[/size]

& what lies lurk in kissesFOR THAT FACE WHICH LAUNCHED A THOUSAND SHIPS• • • • • • • • • • • •Ah, summer. Not really Tristan's favorite time of year, but he had to admit, the abundance of sexy women in bikini's really helped make up for the heat. And where best to find these women? The beach, of course! One must never underestimate the opportunities each season had to offer. Winter was wonderful because women were more likely to want physical contact. But where was he? Oh yes, the beach. Tristan stepped down the boardwalk toward the beach. The water was pretty calm, but the waves were big enough to not get too bored. The sun was starting to set, but wouldn't be fully down for another few hours. Such was the nature of summer. As for the people, he saw several people playing in the water, running around in the sand, or just sunbathing. Too bad it wasn't a nude beach...
Once in the sand, Tristan pulled off his shirt and grinned around. Who to talk to? He didn't currently have a girlfriend, but he wasn't apposed to getting a new one. Of course, flings were his specialty. He wasn't a sex addict or anything, and he certainly hook up with anyone he came across, but he did love to get down and dirty on a regular basis. It had been a while since Eden and he had broken up...what, two or three weeks? Damn girl refused to fuck him... Then again, he wasn't exclusively looking for potential girlfriends. He enjoyed just hanging out with people. Friends were very welcome to Tristan.
He surveyed the people around and caught a girl sitting by herself on a stone wall not too far from him. Bingo. She didn't seem to be paying much attention to anything. That was alright. Tristan would get her attention. Besides, he looked good without a shirt on. So, off he went to the girl. When he reached her, he hopped onto the wall beside her and offered his hand. "Hey, I'm Tristan. Sorry to interrupt, I just can't resist saying hello to a beautiful girl when I see one."

As she gazed out at the waves, her mind began to wander. She loved the warm weather and it always put her in a better mood. She thought about her parents, and how she appreciated everything they did for her, but they could be overwhelming at times. Which was the main reason that she loved living on her own, finally. The one thing she really hated her parents for were homeschooling her, because it had really taken her away from the social world, and sometimes she didn't know how to act in certain situations.
Halfway through her last year of homeschooling she had started dating a guy that was also being homeschooled. They were together for a whole year but eventually she ended things with him for a few reasons. He was too much of a goody-goody for her and she felt like she couldn't branch out away from that. She didn't like the thought of commitment, and well, she was afraid of having sex, as ridiculous as it sounds. Which makes her a virgin, still. Many guys deemed her a "heartbreaker" because she would flirt, but she would never really let things go too far with any guy she just met, or one that she knew, for that matter.
She was brought back from her daydream as someone sat next to her and her head snapped towards them. She was surprised to see a rather good-looking guy beside her, one that she didn't recognize at all. She was even more surprised by how forward he was "Well, thank you." she said, and could help but let out a subtle laugh to herself because of how suave he seemed "Tristan? That's a nice name. I'm Lily." she said, her hand in his, giving a gentle shake to the stranger.

& what lies lurk in kissesFOR THAT FACE WHICH LAUNCHED A THOUSAND SHIPS• • • • • • • • • • • •Tristan gave her a genuine smile and shook her hand. Her hand was soft, and pleasant feeling. He liked that. She really was quite beautiful. He'd always preferred blondes over any other hair color on a woman. He tried to convince himself it wasn't because of Penelope, but in reality it probably was. He hated himself for not being completely over that girl, and until he was, he couldn't have a real relationship. But enough about that, there was a hot girl talking to him, complimenting his name. He shrugged in response and grinned. "Well, thank you, though it's nothing compared to Lily. Is that short for anything?"
Tristan turned his head toward the water and watched the waves crashing for a few minutes. "Say, this may be a bit strange coming from someone you just met, but do you want to go take a dip? I'm sure the water is great this time of day." He looked her in the eyes, smiling. "Or should I tell you a little more about myself first? Let's see...I'm twenty-two, relatively new here, been here about a month and a half, and I'm a bartender at a club. Desperate for some friends, really." That was actually the truth. He was very much interested in finding new friends. And, while he wouldn't rule it out, he hadn't come over to talk to her simply to get in her pants. He wasn't that shallow.
"Thankfully I didn't have to work today, so I had time to come here, where I ran into you. I guess I'm pretty lucky, huh?" He laughed a bit and ran a hand through his hair. "So tell me about yourself. What do you do for fun?"

Lily let her eyes fall on his and she smiled. Her eyes moved downwards, and she noticed that he also had a really nice body, and she wondered why he had even come over to her in the first place because he was actually really hot. "Liliana." she said, although she didn't want to. She hated her name, and thought it was a mouthful, although she was always being complimented on it "But really, just call me Lily."
She was a little taken back by his offer, and then amused as he started listing things off about himself. Cute and friendly? she thought to herself, always oblivious to the fact that anyone was hitting on her or not. "Which club?" she asked, referring to when he said he bartended. She didn't usually go to clubs, but there was one bar downtown that was really laid back and she could always get into.
"Hmmm." Lily thought for a moment before starting, deciding to go along with their conversation "Well, I'm twenty." she said first. Her face looked more mature, and many people often thought she was older than that, which helped her out a lot of times. "I've lived here for a long time now, but I don't know that many people." She said but then realized he probably thought she was anti-social or something, so added "Because I was homeschooled in high school, that's why." She smiled a little and looked at him before shrugging "I usually go out once a week with my girl friends to that bar downtown, otherwise I always find something to do when I'm not working. Like this." She stood up off the wall now, putting her feet down on the warm sand. Without warning, she began to lift her shirt up over her head and she let it fall to the ground "I guess we could go for a dip now, though, since we know each other and all" she said and grinned.

& what lies lurk in kissesFOR THAT FACE WHICH LAUNCHED A THOUSAND SHIPS• • • • • • • • • • • •Tristan smiled at her. "It's a beautiful name...but I understand why you'd rather go by Lily. Liliana is a bit...formal." He laughed to himself, happy to be on first name...nickname basis with this girl. Liliana really was too formal. Something you would give out to someone important, like the president or something. Not to a potential friend. "Hey, you can call me Tris. My friends do." He shrugged, hoping she'd take the hint that he was, indeed, hoping to see her again. She seemed nice enough, and was definitely beautiful, even a blind person could tell that.
"Which club?"
Ah...the dreaded question. He somehow doubted this girl would approve of him working in a strip club. He didn't want to scare her off forever, so he had to word this carefully. He rubbed the back of his neck and laughed sheepishly. "Uh...well, see, there weren't a lot of choices. I'd rather be working at some old bar, but this was really the only place hiring and I needed money, so..." He shrugged. "It's not really the most...respectable place..." If he was honest, Tristan didn't mind working there. He liked women, and there were plenty of them there. The pay was good, as well. But he did make sure to take a shower after he came home each time. That place occasionally made him feel a bit...icky. He shook his head, and returned his attention back to Lily, who was now speaking again. He listened respectfully, nodding every once in a while. "I wasn't ever homeschooled, though I sort of wish I had been in high school..." He frowned at the sand, remembering living in Indiana. If he hadn't gone to school, he wouldn't have met Penelope. If he hadn't met her....he would probably a completely different person right now.
He pulled himself out of his thoughts when Lily jumped off the wall and took off her shirt. He couldn't help but grin, indulging in a quick up and down of her before joining her. He already had his shirt off, and swim trunks on. He was good to go. Tris stretched and grinned. "I'll race you there." he suggested playfully, then took off for the water. Of course, he didn't flat out run, he took it slow, giving her a fair chance to catch up to him. "Come on!"

Lily nodded in agreement with what he said about her name being so formal, and was glad he understood, because her parents certainly didn't. Whenever she was home they would always call her by Liliana and barely ever shorten it. "Alright, Tris. I'll try and remember that." she said with a flirty smile. She liked to firt, but she usually didn't even realize she was doing it, and was sometimes oblivious when others did with her. He seemed sweet though, and really friendly, so far she liked him.
When he started on about where he worked she listened, slightly amused by his whole explanation which seemed to avoid an actual answer to her question. She decided not to ask any further questions about his job though, instead complimenting him on it "It's cool that you bartend, though. I'm sure you can make all sorts of good drinks." She liked fruity and girly drinks, typical.
Lily reached her hands up and pulled her hair out of her face and into a ponytail. She hated getting it wet and having it go all over the place. When he said he wished he'd been homeschooled she raised an eyebrow and responded with "Believe me, you were better off. There was nothing good about being homeschooled." she said, and truly believed that. She felt like she had been sheltered from the rest of society by her parents, and they had completely ruined her social life.
As she unbuttoned her shorts and let them fall to the sand, she didn't notice him look at her. Before she knew it, he was racing her. She grinned, he was obviously a fun guy, and she loved having fun too. She jogged after him, just barely beating him to the water because he had slowed down. "Ha. I won." she said and stuck her tongue out at him "You lost to a girl." she teased, only going in so that just about her ankles and below was under the water. It was a little chilly.

& what lies lurk in kissesFOR THAT FACE WHICH LAUNCHED A THOUSAND SHIPS• • • • • • • • • • • •Tristan laughed slightly at their conversation. First the choices in shortening names, then his 'unfortunate' job, and now the merits of various schooling. Such a leap, each time. However, he was willing to go along with the scattered topics, especially when talking to such a beauty. Honestly, she was gorgeous. And blonde. Blondes were Tristan's type, though he could never figure out why. Perhaps because his most serious relationship was with a blonde? Pah! Ridiculous. This had nothing to do with Penelope. This was Lily! The new and improved lady in his life, assuming things went well. Still, he'd be happy with a friend. He liked having female friends. Well, friends in general.
"Oh yes," He winked at her. "I'm quite good with my hands. It comes with that kind of job." Tris paused for a moment and wondered what the hell he had just said. Wow. A feeble attempt. He hadn't been trying very hard, really, but that was not up to his usual flirting standards. But what was he doing thinking about such a thing when he had a beautiful lady sitting next to him. He laughed slightly at her obvious hatred for homeschooling. "Oh, nothing? I'm sure there's something nice about it. Is there less work? No annoying teachers? Or there's always the awful post-break up drama that can be avoided. I bet you had more free time, eh?" He nudged her with his shoulder, grinning broadly.
And, in true Tristan form, his grin widened as she unbuttoned her shorts and followed him toward the water. He was a bit busy looking at her as she was gloating over beating him, that he ended up slipping and landing face first in the water. He shot up, now completely soaked. Well, that had to be charming. He turned and smirked at her. "Oh, did I? To a girl? I'll just have to get you back for that." He promptly raced toward her and splashed as much water on her as he could. Then he grabbed her and pulled her farther into the water. "Come on! I'm not the only one getting drenched here! That would just be unfair."
