Adalaide Edith Rowland was a happy girl. She lived a good life, had a good job, and was fairly happy with her appearance. Living on the top floor, the penthouse suite, of her apartment building was nice and her landlord was accommodating. However, until recently, they had a disagreement. You see, Ada had spent her entire life around animals, and living alone got to be quite lonely sometimes. The building clearly stated that there were no dogs. None at all. And that really didn't work for Ada. So, after quite a bit of sweet talking and even a bit of bribery, she managed to come to a compromise. She would be allowed to get a dog, as long as it was under fifty pounds and she'd replace the carpets when she moved out. Whatever, not a big loss.
So she'd be getting a dog. A real, live creature. Someone to love. The whole week she smiled through unpleasant business meetings and conferences. She rolled her eyes at things her father said that would usually infuriate her. Even when her mother called drunk, from inside of rehab, (seriously, they aren't very watchful there.) she shook it off. A puppy, all of her own.
She spent most of her time reading books on proper care, and animal proofing her apartment. In her research, she found a pound in the heart of the city. She decided that as much as she wanted a pure breed puppy, it'd be better to rescue one. While she was unsure of the age, she felt certain that when she found the right dog, she'd know. Along with her, she decided it would be nice if her friend Dallas came with her for advice. He was friendly and kind, and had a giant dog named Frank. She couldn't decide which one of them she liked better.
As she pulled into the parking lot, she looked at her passanger seat, where she'd put an old beach towel and a list of supplies she was going to get afterwards (collar, leash, etc.) She stepped out of her car and looked around for Dallas. Hopefully by the end of the day, she'd have someone to love.

Dallas was running late. He'd gotten involved with a case he shouldn't have since he knew he had to be somewhere and now he was going to be late. He really wished he'd gotten Ada's phone number so he could tell her that, but Dallas smart as he was had completely forgotten. What time had she told him? 2? It was now 2:30, and he was almost there, at least. He hoped Ada wasn't a punctual person, or that she'd said some other time, and that he wasn't late after all. Dallas really hated being late. He had run home to change out of his uniform and into something more casual, a simple black T-shirt and jeans. He hoped whatever dog Ada picked out didn't have white fur, because that would look just perfect on his shirt.
He pulled into the parking lot with his truck, scanning the lot for a place to park.Breathing a sigh of relief that she was still outside waiting, he turned into a spot and put the car into park. He stepped out and slammed the car door behind him, and he approached her and waved, grinning.
"Hey, Ada, sorry for being late. Got a little backed up at work." He apologized first, and then rubbed his hands together in anticipation. "Ready to find a soulmate?" He said with a slight smirk. He was glad she'd invited him along, otherwise, he'd probably just be lounging around watching TV with Frank right now. Dallas had left the big boy at home, where all the fans in the house were running, and the house was completely shut up because Dallas still didn't have an air conditioner. Frank got hot very easily with all that fur of his, and so Dallas usually tried to get away at least once a day to check on him. That was the first thing on his list when he actually acquired some money; air conditioning. "Got any idea what you're looking for?" He asked, honestly curious. words: 345 tagged: ada notes: n/a

"Hey, Ada, sorry for being late. Got a little backed up at work. "
[/i] She smiled pleasantly, and waved a hand to show it was fine. "I know aaaallll about getting stuck at work. Besides, i just got here!"[/b] She bounced on her heels in excitement. With a little smirk, Dallas asked, "Ready to find a soul mate?"[/i] In response she practically squealed, clapping her hands together and nodding like a bobble head. "Absolutely!""Got any idea what you're looking for?"[/i] What a tricky question. It would be easier to make one choice, if all of the dogs weren't so cute! Ada hadn't even stepped inside yet and she already knew she anted to take every one of them home. So she shrugged, "I need a dog that weighs less than fifty pounds, a rule from my landlord. With an eye roll, she thought of the dog the size of a dragon her landlord owned. "So, i think i'll get a reasonably small one.[/b] With yet another excited smile she pulled open the door, jangling some bells. A volunteer greeted them and Ada repeated what she knew. The volunteer told her that smaller dogs would be all the way on the left side of the building. Determinedly she set out in this direction, stopping ever so often to make sure she wasn't lost. At the end of a hallway, she pulled open another door and stepped inside to see rows and rows of cages. Howling, yipping, barking and all around noise making greeted her. The sound, sight and smell hit her senses all at the same time. She turned back to Dallas and gave him a smile the equivalent of five year old on Christmas. He was glad Ada hadn't turned out to be a stickler for timeframes; even though normally Dallas was the earlybird to everything. He had never minded waiting as long as it wasn't an outrageous time. Dallas laughed at her reaction, and it made him a little reminiscent of his sister Meghan, when she was younger. Ada was a little bit more energetic than her, though.
He nodded to the guidelines she laid out for him. "Personally, I like my dogs big." He said grinning. "But if those are rules, those are the rules." Dallas's mind immediately thought about Ada getting a dog that was 49 pounds, and it made him smile a little inside. He followed her inside the building, and nodded to the volunteer, letting Ada do all the talking.
Whenever Ada stopped to make sure she was heading the right way, Dallas assured her she was. Even though he really didn't need another dog, he'd been here before, just looking. That was how he'd ended up with Frank. Somebody couldn't handle that expensive mastiff they'd bought and Frank had ended up in the pound, halfway through puppyhood and already huge. He smiled at the memory and looked up as he and Ada reached their destination.
Dallas looked around at all the wiggling animals around them. A good majority of them were mutts, as always in the pound. Some of them were excitedly jumping on the front of their cages, barking, and some just looked up at the two new people and lazily wagged their tails. Ada looked back at him smiling, looking so excited it made Dallas smile too. She was a cute little thing, Dallas couldn't deny that.
"I'm sorry, we can't take them all home." He said smiling. words: 292 tagged: ada notes: ada is so cute. :3

She was little. Never had she been considered tall, and her legs were twig like. When she got excited, her whole body bounced and happiness radiated off of her. Her dad used to tell her that the sun had been put inside of her stomach, and that Ada could be considered an inexhaustible resource. Every day she was up before the sun, though she loved to stay up late at night. Sleep wasn't her thing. She'd rather be out, or at least awake. Because of the boundless energy she had, being productive was never a problem. She liked challenges, and feeling accomplished. Still, sitting in an office, or in meetings all day drove her nuts sometimes. The need to run often overcame her.
When she walked past the cages, she looked for one of the dogs that was up against the wire, trying to push it's way out. The ones that were just as excited or as excitable as her. Calm wasn't something Ada handled very well- she needed a dog with her kind of energy. Smiling, she thought of getting a dog exactly forty nine pounds. If her land-lord have her any problems, she could pull out a scale and everything.
"I'm sorry, we can't take them all home."
[/i] Dallas told her, smiling. She laughed, knowing it was true, but wishing it wasn't. "Oh, but it would just be so fun!"[/b] She bounced on her heels, grinning broadly. "I should start a zoo!"[/b] An image popped into her head of herself in zookeepers clothes and safari hat. Somehow she doubted having a net nd tranquilizer gun would end well for anyone. She continued to walk while talking, backwards so she could still face him. Turning her attention away from the cages momentarily, she was laughing about Zookeeper Ada. A sharp yip came from the left side of her, nearly scaring her out of her wits. Visibly, she jumped and stumbled slightly. After regaining her balance, she looked at the cage. A white dog, a toy poodle mix if she had to guess, was looking at her curiously. The two of them both had their heads tilted to the left, and when Ada reached her hand out to touch the metal, the puppy did the same. It was quite a sight to see. Her heart melted, sight on seen. Attached to the cage was a white tag, with the basic information. It was a she, she was spayed, around 1 year, found in a shopping center. Poor baby. So, Ada did exactly what the volunteers told her not to do, and wiggled two of her fingers into the cage. The puppy approached them fearlessly, swatting them with her paw. After deciding there was no danger, she licked Ada's fingers with enthusiasm. The puppy was what Ada was looking for. Enthusiastic, small, and fearless. Never in her life had she been more grateful to a yip. The licking went on for several moments, Ada giggling hysterically. Finally she pulled her fingers out and turned to face Dallas, still laughing. "I think we have a winner!"[/blockquote][/blockquote][/font][/blockquote] ___________________________________________________[/color] words; a lot ! muse; Sum 41 ! notes;]YAY! <3 haha, Dallas is cute toooo! outfit; Here credits; zie @ CAUTION! lyrics by fun.!
