rp sample: He chuckled a little, “Arrogant much?” he teased back. He had missed this, the playful banter that moved so easily between the two of them. God he had been such an idiot, and there was nothing else, there could not be anything else that he would regret more than losing her. He wasn’t even sure how it had happened. One minute he was drinking with a couple of friends at a party the next he had found himself in some random skank’s bed. He ran a hand over his hat, and smiled a little, “I wasn’t lying when I told you that I loved it, back when you gave it to me.” He really did love his hat. Wore it all the time, or well, he just started wearing it all the time again. Back when she was still pissed at him, he hadn’t worn it as much. Out of respect for her, and well, because it reminded him of her, every time he put it on.
His smile couldn’t help but grow at seeing her smile, and the fact that she basically quoted the same words his grandmother had spoken time and time again. While he didn’t always listen to the words of his elders, he respected his grandmother greatly, and at least tried to adhere to her words. It was the least he could do after all she had done for him and his siblings since their mother died when he was younger. She had all but raised them, and he knew he would be lost… well more lost than he already was without her. He followed her eyes down towards her untied shoe laces. “Yeah… no… too much work… on my own part,’ he said with a small laugh. He frowned a little as she pushed his hand away, and paid for their drinks. He supposed he should have seen this coming. She had always been the independent sort. But still… he was the man in their relationship… even though it wasn’t much of a relationship anymore. “Okay…” he said softly, putting his wallet back in his back pocket.
He took his drink from her, “Thanks.” He looked down at his shoes, wondering what he should do now. Should he stay and talk to her, and possibly sit through an incredibly awkward silence, or just leave and wait until it was time to leave for his meeting with his father. Had it been anyone else, sitting through an awkward silence wouldn’t have been much of a problem, as he often found himself in them, but she wasn’t just anyone else. There was his other option, he could just leave, but…that would seem rude. Part of him was really considering his second option, but another part of him, a not so small part of him that was slowly creeping its way to the front really wanted to stay. He wasn’t even sure why he wanted to stay. It wasn’t like she looked particularly thrilled to be in his presence either. She didn’t look unthrilled to be in his presence either. There was the added fact that she had asked him, but it could’ve been out of politeness. So should he stay? He thought it over for a few seconds before deciding that he would stay. They were trying out the whole friends’ thing after all. He wasn’t sure how it would work, but he was willing to try anything, to get on better speaking terms with her again. “So…” he said after a beat, “long time no chat.”
